Bösendorfer

In 1828, Ignaz Bösendorfer founded the piano factory of that name in Vienna. In 2003, the world-renowned company celebrates its 175th anniversary, having returned to Austrian ownership in good time for the anniversary after it had been in the hands of foreign owners for more than 35 years.
The complete Bösendorfer story, from the founding days to the present, was presented in December 2002 in form of a luxurious coffee-table book. “Bösendorfer – A Living Legend” documents the history of the oldest continuously producing and most prestigious piano manufacturer in the world.
The history, the film and the DVD describes in loving detail how the famous Bösendorfer pianos are made, which models are available, and includes some enthusiastic comments by great pianists. This DVD will impress piano players equally as much as piano enthusiasts or anyone in the piano industry. After all, Bösendorfer stands for excellence, for Viennese music and Viennese culture of sound – the piano makers at Bösendofer have always been inextricably linked to the city where musical geniuses such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss lived and worked.
